This cute, cozy little patisserie is a French-Taiwanese venture offering a wide range of authentic, top-quality French pastries prepared by a French chef without any artificial ingredients. Besides cakes, tarts, crumbles, eclairs (NT$100-130), brownies (NT$45 each; 9-piece box NT$380) and quiche, there are also teas, coffees and juices. Customized cakes for birthdays and other occasions can also be ordered. --By Douglas Habecker, translated by Eva Liao

A. About 15 different tarts are made with fresh fruit, 100% imported French flour, and other wholesome ingredients. The Lemon Tart (made from fresh-squeezed lemon juice) is a best-seller, with other flavors including Caramel Apple, Raspberry Pistachio, and Black Chocolate. Most tarts are NT$135 each, four for NT$500, six for NT$750, eight for NT$1,000, and 10 for NT$1,200.

B. Most customers at this very French-looking shop do take-out, although there are 10 seats inside to linger at.

C. Chef Axel Baracassa brings a tremendous amount of experience to Taichung from Montpellier in southern France, where he worked at La Diligence Restaurant.
