A few minutes walk from the JungJeng boutique-and-movie-theater district, Jerry--a young Taiwanese man who used to work at Willy's Second Base Bar & Grill, a popular Tainan sports bar--has opened his own, eponymous eatery. While there is no indoor seating, there is a pleasant covered area on the sidewalk of recently tidied up HaiAn Road. Jerry's has salads (NT$50 to NT$90), burgers (NT$60 to NT$80), baked dishes (NT$50 to NT$100), pasta (NT$90 to NT$120) and typical American snacks such as fries, onion rings and chicken fingers. Jerry himself recommends the Baked Cream Chicken Macaroni, the Baked Tomato Sauce Seafood Macaroni, the Chicken and Mushroom Spaghetti, and the White Wine Seafood Spaghetti. And as you would expect from someone who used to work in a place where the food won accolades, Jerry's chow is good. --By Richard Matheson
