As the name suggests, pumpkins are a main
attraction at Pumpkin Curry. The owner, Jonathan Kuo, enjoys
pumpkins not only in his curry, but also gracing the walls
of his stylish restaurant. Hand-picked pumpkin decorations,
ranging from real melons to cross-stitchings, are proudly
put on display and quite a sight to see. The menu at Pumpkin
Curry is impressive as well, offering a wide variety of curry-related
dishes, including Curried Rice, Noodle, Gratin, Pasta, and
Hot Pot with an assortment of meats, seafood, vegetables and,
of course, pumpkin. Owner-chef Kuo loves eating and making
curry, and has spent much time creating his curry formulas
from 20+ spices, none of which rely on salt and sugar for
flavor. His specialty, Curry Hot Pot, requires four days of
cooking; the process is illustrated with cartoon drawings
around the restaurant. Curry is ordered by spiciness (1-5)
and meal type (single, combo, takeout). Single orders (around
NT$200) come with soup and tea, combo orders (around NT$300)
come with salad, beverage and dessert. Takeouts are cheaper.
For those craving something sweet afterward, Pumpkin Curry
offers a selection of desserts (NT$40-60), such as cheesecake
and Black Forest Gateau.
