Mongkok Dim Sum and Lounge is arguably one of the best places
in the city to enjoy a casual dinner or a splendid cocktail.
The restaurant is not only spacious, but comfortable, elegant
and with just the right lighting to make the experience all
the more relaxing. Located at the end of LiouHe Road (the
street made famous by its night market) close to the Love
River, it occupies a space of approximately 2000 square feet
on the first floor of the Hotel Holiday Garden.
On plush low-cut lounge style chairs and
wide solid wood tables, you will enjoy steam cooked dishes
made famous in Hong Kong. The menu is organized into categories
according to the cooking style, starting with the least expensive.
Oil fried and steam-cooked entrees like the shrimp and yam
roll are NT$50 - NT$78. There is the Japanese style sweet
dishes of grilled yellow tort and the cold yam dessert from
NT$50 - NT$170. Traditional plates such as Hot Pot and fried
rice or noodles are also available at NT$180 - NT$200. Don't
miss the Almond Shrimp Salad, a delicately fried shrimp cake
smothered in almond chips for NT$78.
The drink menu is extensive, with a range
of Japanese wines, cocktails, red and white wines and spirits
from NT$160 - NT$500 per glass. Mongkok also serves the usual
coffees, juices and teas from NT$60 - NT$120. Try their thirst-quenching
grapefruit honey juice drink at NT$100. Happy Hour is everyday
from 9 p.m. - 1a.m. The non-smoking policy is an interesting
detail, where smoking is prohibited between the hours of 6
p.m. - 9 p.m. There is an English menu, and group bookings
are made to accommodate ten people per package for up to 70
people.
